3 Best Boro Restaurants According to My Stomach
I think one known fact about me is that I’m a picky eater. Not necessarily that it has to be the best or most expensive, but I’m not a franchise kind of gal. I love spending my money in support of other business owners that have made this community their home and turned their passion into their livelihood. Also..the food tends to be so MUCH better because they are taking it personally. Their talent has created their career, given them a spot in the community and now it’s their name on the line. Supporting people and businesses like that almost makes the carbs don’t count. So, if you’re looking for some non-franchised places to check out in the Boro, here are my top 3 recommendations:
Aside from it being owned and ran by the sweetest people in this county…the food is ALWAYS good and made from scratch. I’m super partial to any of their fish of the day but can always rely on their salmon to be amazing, the cocktails to be perfectly blended and the customer service top notch. I’d strongly recommend the gumbo and grilled cheese, blackened chicken with steamed broccoli or meatballs with sauce. It’s located off the square and parking can be tricky if you go at prime time but worth the wait. Also, no reservations so sit back and enjoy your mojito while you wait for your table like everyone else.
This deli is our go to on a weekly basis. Their Reubens on rye with spicy mustard is literally perfection. Their BLT’s with avocado…take my money and pass me the bacon. They are the best at signature choices and offer up the typical deli sides, beer, and cheesecake but their sandwiches are why you’re really going there. This sweet little deli is also located on the square and is a bit small so, if sitting and rubbing elbows with others is not your thing…get it to go. I like to put it on a proper plate at home and pretend that it was my own masterpiece. Fantasies in your 40’s start to hit different.
This is the only restaurant my husband and I agree is worth dealing with Cason Lane during evening rush hour. They serve up classic Laotian cuisine in a recently remodeled space that thankfully doubled the size of their restaurant. I'll be honest and tell you my fav thing is pretty basic, pad thai with tofu, but it is SOOO good. Their Lao Sausage is phenomenal if you like spicy – order some sticky rice to eat with it as an app. Their pho is also one of the best in town and my go to when I’m not feeling well. When you go, don’t be in a rush…it’ll ruin your experience and frustrate you. Just remember to order apps with your drinks and sit back and enjoy the amazing smells!
Some notable others to try out: Simply Pure Sweets for breakfast or lunch…to-die-for baked goods! Opah Greek Grill for lunch or dinner…while their location isn’t the fanciest, their gyro plate and baklava is the best and the owners are so incredibly sweet!
